Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. (NASDAQ:TTWO) announced today that it acquired the exclusive publishing rights for the best-selling franchise of Duke Nukem PC and video games from Infogrames, Inc. (NASDAQ:IFGM). The acquisition by Take-Two includes the back catalog rights to more than six Duke Nukem products, as well as the PC, console and sequel rights to the upcoming Duke Nukem Forever title, the highly anticipated sequel to the PC blockbuster Duke Nukem 3D. Duke Nukem products have sold more than 0 million worldwide since the launch of Duke Nukem 3D in 1995, making Duke Nukem one of the most commercially successful product franchises in gaming history. Take-Two's Gathering of Developers PC publishing subsidiary expects to launch Duke Nukem Forever in the second half of 2001. Also, Take-Two's Rockstar Games console publishing subsidiary expects to develop several versions of the product in the future for next-generation console platforms. Duke Nukem creator and developer 3D Realms is also working with Take-Two's Gathering of Developers on another major PC release for 2001, Max Payne, and with Rockstar Games, on a Duke Nukem title for PlayStation(R)2.
